Kali is a gentle soul with a colorful teaching style that leaves every student feeling good both in their skin and spirit. Yoga has helped her to be more present in every moment, to feel strong and healthy in her body, and to approach life with a more light-hearted attitude. These are some of the reasons she loves sharing yoga with others.
Kali enjoys teaching dynamic yoga classes that incorporate more than just asanas (physical poses). In a typical class, you might learn a new breath exercise, meditation technique, a sanskrit phrase, or a good yoga joke. Kali's experience as a nationally touring musician, performing for a wide diversity of audiences, has also made it possible for her to quickly read a group of people and know what is needed to create a safe, supported and positive atmosphere.
Kali received her 200-hour certificate from Wise Living Yoga Academy in Thailand, and is always adding to her bag of tricks with continuing education courses through Living Yoga and online self-lead study. She has been a volunteer teacher with Living Yoga since 2014, providing free classes to individuals who wouldn't otherwise have access to yoga, has taught group and individual classes throughout the Portland area since 2014, and has had a serious self-practice since 2003. She is a Boston University graduate with a degree in Communications and Eastern Religion and she also holds a Level 2 Reiki certificate from Karma Yoga and Level 1 from Evolve Portland. Kali is currently studying Ayurveda with Ann Wagoner and working towards her next yoga certificate.
